.BIZ class action suit notice of proposed settlement
NeuLevel Inc., the registry for .biz domain names, have agreed
to pay approximately US$1.2 million to settle charges that their
initial method for distributing .biz domains amounted to an illegal
lottery.
Most of the settlement will go to cover attorneys' fees, because
NeuLevel has already sent millions of refunds to unsuccessful applicants.

Public Interest Registry assumes control of .org
As reported previously, the Public Interest Registry (PIR) this
month assume control of the .org top-level domain registry from
VeriSign, resulting in the largest transfer of data from one registry
to another in the history of the Internet. This transition is taking
place over the coming weeks.
VeriSign relinquished administration of the .org domain to comply
with an agreement they entered into with ICANN and the U.S. Department
of Commerce in May 2001.
During the transition period, NetNames clients will not be affected
as our domain registration system will continue to accept orders
for .org domains and there will be no impact on the performance
of existing registered .org domain names.
