.cn going live on March 16

Please note that the .cn domain will soon be made available at the second level to anyone in the world, meaning you can register domains in the form of xxxxxx.cn. This follows on from the recently launched com.cn, net.cn and org.cn.  Previously .cn domains were only available to companies based in China.

The registry will start accepting applications on March 16th and domains will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

You can place your orders now at www.netnames.com and we will process these as soon as the registry becomes available on March 16th. More information on the .cn registration process is available here

Nominet statement on UK Internet Registry Ltd

Nominet, the official registry for .uk domain names, released a statement this week clarifying that they have absolutely no association with UK Internet Registry Ltd., a company that has been sending out documents resembling invoices to registrants of .co.uk names.

UK Internet Registry Ltd. have been accused of sending out invoices claiming the .com version of the .co.uk name is unregistered and offering to sell it to the registrant for a sum of money.

Nominet has advised clients never to be pressured into registering a domain name by aggressive selling tactics of an unknown third party. If you are unsure on the registration of a domain name, please contact NetNames and we can advise you on the best course of action.
