.se update
As mentioned in last weeks N3 lite, the Swedish domain name Registry
is relaxing its registration requirements for .se domains.
The priority period for trademark owners closed on April 9. These
applications have been submitted and the allocated names will be
announced after April 21.
It is now possible to place non-priority applications via the NetNames
website. These are available without restriction and will be allocated
on a first come first served basis. However, it is important to
note that any applications placed between now and April 25 will
not be allocated until after April 27, so successful registration
can not be guaranteed.
If you would like to place an order for a .se domain name, you
can do so today at www.netnames.com,
but please note we will require an identity number (e.g. VAT number)
from the proposed Registrant/owner.

ICANN begins search for new candidates
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN)
this week began a worldwide search for a number of "outstanding
volunteers" to fill key positions within its organisation.
The 16 key candidates will fill eight seats on the ICANN board of
directors, five positions at its Interim At-Large Advisory Committee
and three positions within the Council of its Generic Names Supporting
Organisation.
ICANN is seeking self-nominations and the suggestions of other
suitably qualified candidates by 5 May, so it can make a decision
in early-June.
