Another record quarter for domain registrations

A new report by VeriSign states that 5.1 million new domain names were registered in the third quarter of 2004. This represents the highest quarterly growth in Internet history and is the fourth consecutive quarter to produce record registrations.

The total number of worldwide registrations now stands at 66.3 million.

The continuing growth of the domain name industry supports the view that today's businesses need to incorporate online identity into their overall strategy.

.sg second-level launch

The sunrise period for second-level .sg domains finished some weeks ago and applicants should be made aware of whether they were successful shortly after 20th December.

Second-level .sg domains will be made available to the general public on 3rd January 2005, on a first-come first-served basis. Orders can be placed now at www.netnames.com.
