NetNames is now accepting Sunrise Applications for .eu

NetNames was one of the first Registrars to be accredited by the Registry Operator, EURid, and we are delighted to advise you that we are now accepting Sunrise Applications through our specialist website www.gtld.com. A 'Sunrise Period' is an industry term for a restricted registration period offering an opportunity for qualifying entities to apply for specific domain name registrations in advance of more general release.

The .eu Sunrise Period will run in two phases:

Phase 1 - for Registered Trademark Holders and Public Bodies
Phase 2 - for holders of 'other Prior Rights'

NetNames is now accepting applications for both phases of the Sunrise Period, and we will submit these to the Registry as soon as it opens (expected to be in the fourth quarter of this year). In accordance with EURid's requirements, NetNames will submit applications to the Registry strictly in the order that we receive them. It is therefore advisable to submit your applications to us as soon as possible to secure a position in the queue, as a great deal of interest is expected.

If you believe that you qualify for a Sunrise Application, NetNames encourages you to visit www.gtld.com ASAP to review all the relevant information.

Following the Sunrise Period, the Registry will open up to the public on a first-come, first-served basis for all other domain names. NetNames will shortly start accepting pre-registrations for this Open Registration period. We will announce this separately in another email.

We recommend you act now to protect any registered trademarks, by making your Sunrise Applications at www.gtld.com.
